Unmanned land platform 800 kg

OBRUM launched the project of the platform engineering in 2013. The key objective of the project is to design a Medium Unmanned Land Platform (SBPL) with the maximum Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) of 800 kg. The project assumes that the following options of the platforms shall be developed:

• for reconnaissance and engineering missions,
• for engineering tasks with intervention capacities,
• for logistics purposes,
• for field investigation missions,

Pursuant to Initial Tactic and Technical Assumptions, such platforms shall be intended for collaboration with troops that perform reconnaissance, logistics or engineering missions. They can also be used to support army troops that perform their tactic missions under very harsh field conditions. Such support is possible owing to mobility of platforms, to be understood in broad aspects, as their ability to move on grounds with poor stability and load-bearing capacity as well as its capacity to cross various field obstacles, develop expected travelling speed, be agile in turning back and swivelling around various impediments. Platforms can also be easily carried on other transportation means to locations of their missions and their load capacity should be adjustable according to missions intended. Various options of the platform can be differentiated by installation of appropriate equipment and adaptation of design properties to requirements stipulated in relevant Initial Tactic and Technical Assumptions (WZTT). It is why the efforts for implementation of the project must include tasks associated with engineering of the base platform that shall be common for all applications as well as with arrangements of various on-board equipment kits, working facilities and tools that shall be customizable according to missions purposes.

Past efforts within the project dedicated to the Medium Size Platform enabled gathering experience and competences in designing of unmanned platforms, integration of platforms with dedicated working facilities and tools as well as remote control of such equipment.

Project co-financed by the National Centre for Research and Development under competition 4/2013 for the implementation of research and development projects for state security and defence.
