JBR

The unmanned radiolocation unit JBR was developed at OBRUM within the program of research and development studies dedicated to various load-carrying platforms for radiolocation stations and subcontracted by a specialized company, PIT-RADWAR S.A.

The platform is designed for the following purposes:

• installation of radar equipment inside the cabin for transmission and processing of radar signals (KNO),
• maintain adequate climatic conditions for the radar equipment,
• enable steady and undisturbed rotation of the radar antennas,
• unfolding the antenna system,
• levelling of the entire system to the working position,
• conveying the entire unit on a truck platform TATRA 815-280 R 84, JELCZ 882D.43 M50 or without the dedicated platform, on other wheeled or tracked vehicles.

The product meets WPN requirements prescribed for the qualification group N.7-UZ-II-A, i.e. for the ambient temperature from -40C up to +50C and requirements related to electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) pursuant to the standard NO-06-A200.
Hydraulic drives for the platform levelling and elevation of the antenna equipment is controlled by means of a remote control panel that is normally stored inside the cabin for transmission and processing of radar signals (KNO). The panel is connected to the platform with a flexible cable. Such a solution enables visual monitoring of the unit during the operations of the platform levelling and antenna unfolding.

Key advantages of the product include:

• interfacing frame that enables installation of the platform on any wheeled chassis (e.g. Jelcz or Tatra trucks),
• mounting platform with a set of four outriggers to enable quick levelling of the platform in field conditions,
• elevated support frame designed to lift the transceiving antenna to the height of 5 to 7 meters,
• cabin for transmitting and receiving hardware with access control that enables protection of classified information to the 2nd level of confidentiality (‘Secret’ level).

The product is made up of the following basic subassemblies:

• mounting platform with a set of four outriggers (legs) and a support system,
• the cabin for transmission and processing of radar signals (KNO) together with the ventilation, air conditioning and power supply systems,
• elevated enclosure mounted below the antenna and housing the rotation drives and controls,
• rotating plate,
• transceiving antenna set,
• shielding boards for protection of the antenna set,
• interfacing frame to enable installation of the platform on any vehicle chassis.

The upgraded option of the radiolocation stations, designated as JBR-15, is designed to adapt the existing version of the station to advanced requirement imposed to such equipment, for instance:

• maintain adequate climatic conditions for the radar equipment,
• enable steady and undisturbed rotation of the radar antennas,
• unfolding the antenna system,
• levelling of the entire system to the working position,
• conveying the entire unit on a truck platform TATRA or JELCZ make by means of other wheeled or tracked vehicles.
