MOTION ANALYSIS OF A TRACKED VEHICLE, STANISŁAW TOMASZEWSKI

Abstract. The article describes a method of modelling the movements of a vehicle in the SolidWorks environment. Driving a vehicle on a test track with model bumps at various speeds is presented and capabilities are described for determining road wheel load, determining the frequency of vertical and angular vibration of the vehicle, as well as of displacements and forces generated during movement and acting on the individual components of the hull.

CONCEPT OF A MODULAR FOOTBRIDGE TO BE USED IN CRISIS SITUATIONS, ZBIGNIEW KAMYK, CEZARY ŚLIWIDLIŃSKI, KRZYSZTOF DUDEK, PIOTR KRYSIAK

Abstract. Increasing occurrence of natural disasters requires the use of such equipment which would enable either rapid evacuation, or quick restoration of pedestrian infrastructure with the mainland. The existing infantry footbridges, however, do not fulfil the civilian standards of safety of use. The paper presents a concept and tests of a light modular footbridge for pedestrian use in crisis situations. This footbridge would be used to cross obstacles up to 20 m wide. Optimisation of the construction in terms of shape, mechanical strength, weight enabled the development of modules which guarantee easy transport and assembly. The assembly is simple; it can be done by a small group of people without the need for special equipment or machinery and requiring only minimum amount of supervision. Modularity of the structure allows the users to adapt it to various terrain conditions with ease. Furthermore, the modular footbridge can be adjusted so as to accommodate the new requirements issued by the crisis services, as far as functionality is concerned – both the length and width of the footbridge can be altered.

MATERIAL AND TECHNOLOGICAL ANALYSIS OF THE NEW POSSIBILITIES IN THE MANUFACTURE OF ADD-ON ARMOUR FOR MILITARY EQUIPMENT, JACEK WILCZEWSKI, MARCIN KUBICA, BARTŁOMIEJ PŁONKA, BARTOSZ STEFAŃSKI, MAŁGORZATA KARPOWICZ, PIOTR REDLARSKI

Abstract. The paper presents new possibilities in the manufacture of add-on armour for military equipment (vehicles, helicopters or stationary objects) developed recently by the LUBAWA SA group. The dynamic development of these capabilities is based on new or upgraded equipment and production lines and on substantive support from the Institute of Non-Ferrous Metals, Division of Light Metals (IMN OML) in the area of technologically advanced materials. The paper presents technical parameters and manufacturing capabilities of special materials based on aramid and polyethylene fibres and on chemically or thermally cured materials such as polyester resins, elastomers, etc. Materials based on light metal alloys, on the development of which IMN OML has been working for a number of years, are discussed. The possibilities of prefabrication and manufacture of finished modules of add-on armour designed for mobile and stationary equipment for military and special civilian purposes are described in the summary.

MODERN TECHNOLOGIES OF MANUFACTURING ADVANCED MAGNESIUM ALLOY PRODUCTS USING METHODS OF PLASTIC PROCESSING, BARTŁOMIEJ PŁONKA, PIOTR KORCZAK, KRZYSZTOF REMSAK, MAREK RAJDA

Abstract. This paper discusses the process of direct and indirect extrusion of rods, profiles, tubes, etc. for a series of MgAlZn magnesium alloys, which are suitable for heat treatment to obtain the highest strength. These products have been manufactured at the Institute of Non-Ferrous Metals, Light Metals Division (IMN OML) in the form of billets with a 100 mm diameter. The extrusion process was performed in the temperature range between 320°C and 430°C and at the ram speed of 0.5 to 5.0 mm/s. The impact of heat treatment on the mechanical properties of magnesium alloys was also the subject of this study. The tested magnesium alloys had higher mechanical properties for temper T5 than for temper T6. In conclusion, reference is made to the possibilities of practical application of the results obtained.

IDENTIFYING THE LOCATION OF TETRAGONS IN THE THREE-DIMENSIONAL SPACE - KEY ISSUES IN THE FIELD OF AUGMENTED REALITY, MICHAŁ BUGAŁA

Abstract. The paper presents one of the methods of calculating the pose1 of tetragons in the three-dimensional space on the basis of coplanar two-dimensional points. In conclusion, reference is made to the effects obtained and to the possibilities of practical application of the algorithm.
