ESTABLISHMENT OF A PROJECT, MAREK Ł. GRABANIA

Abstract. The article discusses two elements in the initial project management area, the establishment of a project, those elements having a significant impact on the course and implementation of the project: designation of the project manager and determination of the project management structure. The possible options and their characteristics are presented. Specific considerations, including individual approach to every project, related to project management at OBRUM are referred to in the summary.

CRITERIA AND RULES IN THE DESIGN OF MODERN COMBAT VEHICLES WITH LARGE-CALIBRE ARMAMENT PART 1, MARIAN HOLOTA, MONIKA KURPAS

Abstract. The paper presents methods of acquiring armoured equipment based on valid decisions of the Ministry of Defence. A description is given of the method of acquiring new equipment based on R&D studies along with the definitions of general components of the Feasibility Study, parametric criteria, scope of analyses and studies required for adopting a general structural arrangement of the concept design. Special reference is made to parametric analyses, with the adopted evaluation criterion being the meeting of future user's expectations and the effect of the solution on the general structural arrangement.

HYDROPNEUMATIC SUSPENSION OF A TRACKED VEHICLE WITH FRICTION DAMPERS, STANISŁAW TOMASZEWSKI, PIOTR WOCKA

Abstract. The paper presents the concept of a hydropneumatic suspension of a tracked vehicle based on the hydropneumatic cylinder arrangement and friction damper integrated with the suspension arm holder. The purpose, configuration, design of single suspension unit and the kinematics and design concept of the suspension system of a tracked vehicle are discussed.

SHAPING THE SERVICE LIFE OF GEAR DRIVE SYSTEMS OF WORKING MACHINES, MACIEJ KWAŚNY, JACEK SPAŁEK

Abstract. The paper presents a generalized summary of the effects of basic geometrical, material, construction and technological and operational parameters on the durability of gear drives of machines and special vehicles. The issue of gear meshing durability is examined, indicating the significance of the impact of these parameters on: immediate and fatigue strength of gear teeth and resistance of surface layer to tribological failure. In addition, the important role of lubrication engineering in the shaping of bearings durability is demonstrated. The paper aims to enrich the knowledge of design engineers which is necessary at the stage of concept development and making decisions on the optimization of innovative drive systems of working machines designed for military use.

ELECTRONIC CONTROL SYSTEMS OF INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINES WITH RESPECT TO THE IMPLEMENTATION OF SPECIAL FUNCTIONS IN MILITARY VEHICLE, PIOTR STRYJEK, TOMASZ NIKISZ, KRZYSZTOF SYKULSKI, MICHAŁ SOWA

Abstract. Modern systems that control the operation of internal combustion engines provide many possibilities of shaping the characteristics of such engines. Additional special functions extend the technical capabilities of a vehicle, particularly under extreme conditions. Such functions also facilitate and improve the diagnostics of the engine and the power train. These systems have to be resistant to the increasingly advanced weapons which, for instance, make use of an electromagnetic impulse to destroy the electronics of enemy vehicles

APPLICATION OF COMPUTER MODELLING AND SIMULATION METHODS IN VERIFICATION OF A SYSTEM OF ADDITIONAL ARMOUR INSTALLATION, ANDRZEJ MORKA, SEBASTIAN STANISŁAWEK, TADEUSZ NIEZGODA, DARIUSZ RUDNIK

Abstract. The paper discusses the problem of verifying systems of additional armour installation with the use of computer modelling and simulation methods. To achieve this purpose, numerical models of essential structural elements of the fastening arrangement, of the panel and of the representative portion of hull plate have been developed. Suitable constitutive models of the materials used and proper parameters thereof have been selected. Tested panels were subjected to group N11 standard loads in accordance with the Defence Standard NO-06-A 103/2005 and AP 14.5x114 mm B32 projectile impact in accordance with the guidelines included in STANAG 4569. The results obtained by means of numerical analyses were studied in particular in terms of establishing the probability of permanent plastic deformations in the elements of the additional armour fastening system. It was found that in the cases studied the impact of a projectile results in permanent (plastic) deformations in the fastening arrangement elements (bushings, welds), but in quantitative terms these were far from destructive. No disturbing stresses or strains have been identified in bolts, washers and threaded connections. The only situation that needs to be looked into are permanent strains in the crush area of blind rivet nuts observed for loads from single and repeated impacts. Analysis of the impact of an AP 14.5 projectile centrally along the axis of the bolt of the fastening arrangement showed lack of protective capacity in this area. The projectile perforates elements of the fastening arrangement with no significant resistance, while its energy decreases only slightly and thereby the threat of hull penetration is still retained.

AIR TRANSPORTATION PROBLEMS REGARDING THE MS-40 BRIDGE, ZBIGNIEW RACZYŃSKI

Abstract: The article presents the possibilities of large-size cargo transportation by air, as well as the requirements towards the transported loads and the methods of transport. The article also provides a detailed overview of the technical conditions for the transport of subsequent assemblies of the MS-40 bridge by the C-130 Hercules transport aircraft.

TRACKED VEHICLE TOWING SYSTEM, MACIEJ KOCHEL, KRZYSZTOF SKOWRON

Abstract. The paper presents an additional towing system designed for a light tracked vehicle. Reference is made to the rules of towing vehicles in road traffic and towing of special purpose vehicles, including tracked vehicles. The design of the towing system, its installation on the vehicle and strength calculations are presented.
