Robot for reconnaissance of roads

A robot for reconnaissance of roads (RRD) is a concept under development. The project assumes engineering of a vehicle capable of performing the following actions:

• detect hazardous materials, unexploded bombs and shells as well as improvised explosive devices located within boundaries of road lanes and remove them in safe way,
• mark out hazardous locations and trace safe (checked) routes,
• pick up hazardous materials (both from the road surface and the ones dug under road surface) and move them to safe locations,
• sweep mines from road crowns, trace safe passages in minefields,
• lift up structure components to check hidden areas,
• push or lift vehicle-borne IEDs,
• investigate a road or its lane and mark it as safe or not safe,
• inspect road culverts, road shoulders and side trenches,
