OBRUM boasts an impressive history spanning over five decades, tracing its roots back to the Experimental Production Plant at the ŁABĘDY Mechanical Works in 1968. In 1976, the company evolved into the Research and Development Center for Mechanical Equipment OBRUM.
OBRUM gained independence in 1986, operating as a fully autonomous state organizational unit with legal personality under the supervision of the Minister of Economy, adhering to the regulations governing research and development units.On April 1, 2008, OBRUM transformed into a commercial law company, operating under the name: OBRUM Research and Development Center for Mechanical Equipment, a limited liability company.
Through a State Treasury Agreement, OBRUM sp. z o. o.'s shares were contributed to the increased share capital of "BUMAR" sp. z o.o., and on December 30, 2009, OBRUM sp. z o. o. was incorporated into the BUMAR Group (currently the Polish Defense Holding), as a subsidiary.
Currently, ownership supervision over the activities of OBRUM sp. z o.o. is exercised by Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa S.A.as the dominant company in the PGZ Capital Group, which holds 71.82% of the shares of OBRUM sp. z o.o.
